| Lovino Vitus
"Home, you say, you should've at least let me feel like it was." He grumbled again, rubbing the back of his neck as he rocked his heels uncomfortably. He looked at Romulus with stern eyes, a frown on his face again. "It wouldn't have made a difference," He replied, a lot more easier now after crying his eyes out. Yet the frustration was building up again. "What, you expect me to tell you, 'Hey ya old jeezer I'm leaving this place once and for all because you're obviously being unfair to me'? Nothing would have changed, right?" For a moment his gaze lingered on Feliciano, pained and dejected, before turning to his father again.
He rolled his eyes again, folding his arms. "... I don't need food or whatever. I can live on my own very well. The world outside this castle has better use for me, anyway." Lovino answered while wondering at the back of his mind if it's truly something to be proud of. Sneaky hands to be used in stealth doesn't have a place in royalty nor in battle, anyway. "I... just want to visit to check up on... him." He motioned his head to his younger brother, a slight blush rising to his cheeks.
He wasn't fit for royalty at all. Though it was true that somehow he resembled his father more than Feliciano, but the years of growing up and watching your siblings-- even those who were his father's bastards, become more respectable people. A heir to the throne, a bureaucrat, an admiral, a lord of other houses... where was his place?
And besides, he was sure as hell that if he stayed again here, all the insecurities and inferiority he's tried so hard to ignore will come crashing again.

| Alfred Atherton
"I guess you won't know. You'll just have to trust me." He carved out his heart and handed it out for her to decide what she would do with it, and she decided that she did not need it. Maybe in a sense, that was kindness alone. Alfred watched her defenses falter in front of him, his eyes witnessing a show of vulnerability from the belle. She was giving him the freedom to do whatever he wished from this kind of information by telling him to leave. Alfred will not speak a word about the Czarina like this. Might it be that it would be reason enough for her to trust him.
Alfred chose not to leave. She needed her time alone as much as she needed someone to be there right next to her. He may or may not be qualified for that role, but he was all she had now. With a long sigh, the knight awkwardly paced toward the bench and seated himself on the other end. The barrier between them was still there, he knew. The more he tried to break it, the more vulnerable she became. Maybe it was wiser to keep it up, for her sake.
"Understand what exactly, my lady?" He leaned back, his head tilted backwards so his eyes were focused on the night sky. There were a lot of stars that night and the moon was spectacular. It was even soothing. "Is this relevant to what I called you earlier... I didn't mean to be so rude..." He laughed, mainly because he felt like he had no other option. Whenever faced with an unflattering dilemma, he would choose to laugh than let loose of any other emotion. It helped.
He let his body relax, giving temporary ease to his throbbing wounds. "I became a knight because I felt like I needed to earn something in my own merit. Being lord was... restricting. Some may argue our oath may be just as restricting, but it's done by choice. May that be enough for me already." He was given more freedom weilding a sword than sitting on his brother's seat. Some may find it an excuse, but for Alfred, it was a reason.

| King Romulus Vitus
"'Nothing would have changed'?" Romulus' smile became stern, but still remained. When it comes to killing the mood, he has to give it to his son. "You should have thought about that before coming here tonight."
He clenched his fists, but hid them behind his back before the boys could even see. Despite being a person of bliss and sunshine, there's still a hard part to every man that no one would want to cross. And he found that no matter how much love he poured out to him long before, it still wasn't enough to reach him. Though Romulus did have a flaw -- that one single flaw that was enough to ruined him as a father. And that's his favoritism of Feliciano. The king is well aware of that, but was it enough to degrade him like one of the worst in the history that made him appear like he couldn't even moderate his own kin? And what more on ruling a kingdom? Clearly, whatever misunderstandings he had with Lovino wasn't of something he was glad about. And if for a split second, the younger would think that it never costs him anything; not only emotionally, as well as raising the questions of authorities about his ruling, then boy would it stir the wrath in him.
'Home, you say, you should've at least let me feel like it was.' Lovino's voice echoed in his head. In any way, he knew he did not mistreat him. He knew well that he cared too little or rather loved too much to even mistreat even a single soul of those outside his own home. He thought of all those reports that he heard in the small council -- how a father of those in the bottom of the social class would make their own sons and daughters do labor. Worse, sell them to the slaver's bay. Still, he refrained on pointing this, having not the intention to spark a fight.
He took a deep breath, trying his best not to worsen whatever kind of crease this is. "I know I have my flaws as a father, I apologize. Truly." His tone was sincere, but still with the hint of authority a father (not of a king) would have. 'I may have not given you the same attention and praises as I did with Feliciano, but was that even reasonable enough to cause a scene? Was it enough to deem me as the worst father in the realm in your eyes?' How he wanted to say these thoughts in his mind, but kept them for himself instead.
"If one day, you would decide that I am worthy enough of being your father, you would know where to find me." Afraid of burning everything, Romulus decided it was best if he was the first to keep distance. There was a bitterness in the words he have left him, hopefully enough to make the younger understand the situation his father was instead of focusing on his own intentions.

| Lovino Vitus
His jaw visibly clenched. "I didn't come here to try and get your attention, anyway." Lovino answered, remembering that he was here to gather enough stuff to sell the next day to his accomplices so he would have enough money for food and rent. Dammit, he had nothing...
Tension between the two rose in the atmosphere, and whether or not this attracted more people, he couldn't care less now. Their mini-reunion earlier had already ruined his cover, anyway.
Romulus was quiet for a while. Lovino's eyes locked on his old man's face, and bitterly thought of the time he chose Feliciano over him for the throne. That was, perhaps, the trigger that set him to leave the palace. That time in his younger years, he had hoped that maybe his father would still help him get his shit together and tell him he could be better than he was. Something their mother would have done if she were still alive.
Romulus wasn't the worst father. He knew that. Hell, anyone would dream of the king as their father! But alas, Lovino Vitus was spoiled, prideful and cowardly. He was more sensitive than he showed. Was it so wrong to just, at least once, to be shown the same affection as Feliciano received? Goddamn pride. Goddamn self-esteem. Goddamn everything. This wasn't a big issue at all if it wasn't for Lovino's stubbornness.
The king's apology though certainly made him snap up from his suffocating thoughts and completely speechless. He blinked, the surprise in his face too obvious. At the bitter end of his response, it almost made Lovino break into tears again but tried to steel himself. "I'm..." He croaked out. "I... n-nevermind. Just... I'm... sorry to be such a f-failure, father."
He wasn't prepared to tell him in detail how sorry he was for being a spoiled brat, an insensitive jerk for making the king feel that he failed as a father. So, to apologize for being a failure of a son was the simplest and easiest he could do.
With that, he brushed past his brother, mumbling a small, "Sorry, Feli...." before letting himself wander someplace else where he could just think his life over.

"Look, if you think I'm going to play nice with you just because of this, then you're wrong!" she snapped, yelling at his face. "Don't think so highly of yourself. Uck." Natalya rolled her eyes at him. Stubborn as always, despite tipping on her breaking point. "Do not even dare to feel so comfortable around me. It's degrading."
Her words never ceased their severity, but at least she can direct her attention with her annoyance towards him than sulking around by herself. Natalya's mood did lighten, whether she's proud enough not to admit it or the other way around. Even if it's just for a little bit.
"'Our oath'," she repeated, scoffing. "As if you have an idea what it means to be a part of the great house in the north." Aside the extraordinary traditions, the northmen are stubborn and thus only succumbs to the house of Czar itself. Definitely a lot more complicated than the other houses.
"No body asked why you became a knight!" Natalya quickly interjected after sharing his own story. It may be that she's compulsive to having a sharp tongue, but she did listen to his story even if she would never admit it herself. "Besides, I told you to leave and you wouldn't. Just what kind of knight wouldn't even listen to the pleas of a Lady. The Lord Commander of the Fleece, more so."

He nodded the smile still painted on his lips as he nodded listening to her talk about his business. He did find it interesting as baking was one of the things he always wanted to try and do. He offered her his hand. "Let's get you some of that wine then Miss." his smile turned into a grin at this. He wondered if any of her pastries were here tonight as so he could taste them properly with the chef right there as he did so.

| Alfred Atherton
Alfred did not ask for her story either, but he was glad that she did start talking anyway. He looked at her with wide blue eyes, lost for words for a brief moment. But Alfred, being the boy he was, grinned at her. It was not to provide a show of mock, but he did it out of relief. In a way, he understood better where she was coming from. “So… you’re worried about authority too, huh?”
Being friendly with her was certainly not the approach that would help. Might it be that lady felt unsure of the responsibility that was given to her. Power is an illusion. Authority, however, was more substantial. It is perceived that a knight like him should submit to the wishes of a lady like her, to set an example. She wanted power over him and he proved her how little her power meant against him in the battlefield. Alfred, however, recognized her power. He better start acting like he did, at least, to make her calm a bit down.
He stood up from his seat, as that would probably please her. “If my lady would hear out my words, I’d say that you already have the authority over the northerners. But true power comes from what you make with the authority that has been bestowed to you. And for that, you have to decide for yourself.” He had his hands behind his back and he straightened his posture, as how he would normally be when in duty to the king. “The nature of power is contradicted by tradition and unwritten systems.” He ended his words with a nonchalant shrug.
Truth be told, Alfred could be asking himself what the hell did he just tell her. Those words were mostly just pulled out of his ass, but they sounded good enough, so there was that.
“As a knight, I can’t simply just leave a lady out here alone. Let me escort you back, whenever you’re ready.” Alfred put some distance between them, standing stiffly in the corner. He wanted to hug that woman. In a way, they understood each other but she might not see it in that manner. But he felt like if he did, he would end up with his throat slit. He would better not take any chances.

By this time, Lukas was busy stuffing his mouth with all kinds of weird and delicious delicacies that were presented on the table. He was trying to taste check everything, picking which one was really delicious, okay, or disgusting. He had a habit of doing those things for some reason and when he heard the other offer him a drink, he immediately nodded his head, already having all kinds of tastes in his mouth. He stared at what the other was pouring himself and raised a brow, actually surprised.
"You're drinking water?" he asked, taking a cup and pouring himself some, what it seemed to look like, wine. "That's a first." he commented, placing the bottle back and taking a sip, thankful for tasting the familiar taste and not some other foreign drink.

| King Romulus Vitus
The king stopped on his heels after hearing his son's apology. He bowed his head, hiding the torment on his face. "Why would I think of you as a failure?" He called out in hopes that it would help him from thinking that way. "You're surviving entirely on your own. How is that counted as a failure?" Self-reliance may be one of the most important thing a man or woman born of a high family could never know. And here he is in a pilgrimage entirely on his own, without a squire or a handmaiden. That did count as something important to Romulus' eyes. Not everything is about wealth or authority after all.
"You're my son. I'd never think of you as one." Romulus called to his behind before continuing on his path and heading to the other side of the room.

| Palace Garden // Natalya Czarina
"Oh, what would you know? You're just a knight." She argued, still clueless on his previous position in the house. "Besides, Atherton's just some fancy ornamental house under the authority of a king anyway. Exactly like gold and jewelries. They draw desires of the eyes, but never of a practical good use." When will she ever learn how to hold her tongue? It is of which that often lead her into trouble. Talk about digging her own grave.
"Which unsurprisingly also sounds a lot like you. A pretty lad who can't even take a simple command." She sneered.
"What a foolish thing to do..." Natalya gently released her legs to the ground with much ache to see the wound's status. "Leave your house and waste your life as a member of the Fleece. Robbed of the option of power... Or lands, or fortune. Even marriage. I pity you." She raised her skirt just enough to see the wound without much regards to the presence of a man. He's the one who did this in the first place, and she wouldn't hesitate to slit his throat if his eyes and imagination even wandered elsewhere. "Or maybe I don't." Natalya hissed, glaring at Alfred. It was still fresh and the textile covering it is almost drenched in blood. Badly needing rest and medication so she made a mental note to have her handmaiden call the apothecary this afternoon the moment she's dismissed from her brother's presence.

Unsurprisingly, Trym laughed at that. He laughed pretty much constantly. "Shhh! I'm just saving my drunk-potential for later! Wouldn't want to be black out drunk within the first thirty minutes, y'know? That way I wouldn't be able to remember anything, and that's not good, yeah? Must be a bother for ya to deal with my drunk ass anyway" The way he said it made it sound like a joke, but it was at least partially serious. "I'm still going to drink, but I'm going to be walking out of this castle! I'm still tough, though!" For some reason, he felt the need to add that, as if drinking water made you less manly.
"We'll have fun, yeah?" This was going to be a nice night, Trym decided. Even if it turned out to suck, he'd just make it nice. Even if the food was horrible and the entire thing was boring(none of those things were true, so far), he was sure he could still find a way to make it great. Alcohol could be a part of the solution.

| Feliciano Vitus
Feliciano watched helplessly as his brother Lovino left, a hand reached out to make an attempt to stop him, but he quickly withdrew his hand, knowing full well there was no point. With everything that had just occurred here, Lovino probably just wanted to be left alone for now, and Feliciano could understand that.
His gaze went back and forth between Lovino and his father, while he just watched sadly that their family stopped being quite as close as it had once been several years ago. He was so sure that for a moment, he had succeeded in persuading Lovino to stay, but it seemed all of that went up in smoke. Not only was he sad that their family couldn't enjoy a few moments of being reunited, but he was worried too. They had lived such a comfortable life growing up in the safety of their kingdom. How could Lovino thrive in those dangerous streets out there?
He couldn't understand why Lovino couldn't just... Maybe just get over things..? They had such a great life together, yet he threw it away... Although he understood just a bit of how Lovino must be feeling, he couldn't help but be a little angry with the decisions Lovino had made.
Perhaps now would be a good time to go and try to find Ludwig again... He mostly wanted to talk to someone who had nothing to do with that situation, so he could take his mind off of all of it, and avoid feeling sad again. Yes, that was a good idea. He made his way looking for Ludwig.
He wasn't too hard to find, and he quickly made his way over, immediately hugging Ludwig happily. "Hi Ludwig!!" He smiled, maybe this would make him feel better.
______________________________________________________________________
Roderich Ritter
Roderich shrugged plainly. "There's not too much to report," He began, occasionally glancing around the castle, continuing to take in as much of the beautiful scenery as possible.
"Although I am quite concerned with what I just saw with Ludwig here, is he alright?" He calmly adjusted his glasses yet again. "It's er... Been quite some time since I've had the pleasure to have a conversation with you, father."
Ah yes, look at Roderich, trying to sound way more mature and proffesional than Ludwig. That's a lie.

He was glad about what Trym was babbling about since he didn't really want to drag the taller blonde's unconscious and heavy body back to the ship himself, and he surely wouldn't want Emil or Michelle to help since if ever Lukas tripped or got out balanced, the heavy drunk could fall on one of the two and they'd surely get squished. But Lukas was also glad that Trym was around him because Trym knew how to have fun and Lukas didn't.
The blonde Nordic nodded at this and took another long sip from his drink and pour himself another glass. "Yeah.." he murmured a simple reply as he placed the bottle down, a small smile gracing his lips as he took another sip.

Emma blushed once more as she realized what exactly he was doing. He was offering her a chance to drink one of the most expensive wines. While she was excited about trying such extravagant wine, she was more excited about being escorted by one of the members of the Vitus royal family. She had heard rumors of how charming and handsome he was around the kingdom. She smiled as she nodded, putting her hand in his. "I'd love to." She told him sweetly as she gave him a small curtsy."I'm sure there's a pastry that would accompany it well once I tasted it." She said, excited to try the wine for business reasons. Even when she was in a social setting, she was always business first. But it wasn't everyday that she was accompanied by a handsome man, let alone a member of a royal family.

He took her hand that had been placed in his own before beginning to escort her to the food and drinks. Watching her curtsy again made him laugh slightly. "Really Miss Janssens you don't have to do the curtsy for everything with me, I'm perfectly fine just being treated like a citizen." he whispered in her ear just letting her know. He approached the wine with a smile. "Any requests?" he asked knowing that he would have anything. "And by chance Miss, would your pastries be here tonight?" he was too curious wasn't he.

What would a lion be if not proud? If the lady thought she crushed this one's pride, then she thought wrong.
Alfred's hands balled into angered fists. "You can insult me as much as it pleases you, my lady, but you do not have the solemn right to speak ill of House Atherton!" His voice was raised, forgetting that he should keep his voice hushed in fear of listening ears. "Our house is not ornamental. Our house is feared for good reason and we can burn other houses to the ground if need be. One will be foolish to make a powerful enemy out of the lions." His jaw was a tight, ticking his tongue on the roof of his mouth. His blue eyes reflected anger out of the offensive words she spoke. It was uncalled for.
His eyes could not meet her direction for he did not want to see that look on her face, and he did have the grace to look away when needed. "My servitude to the throne is beyond your comprehension. I may be an Atherton, but gold isn't all that matters to me. Same can be said with power or marriage. I have power, and I am most effective in this position. I chose this over my brother's seat. He may have his love, his wealth, and his authority, but I have my choice and my own path to make my own history, one that is not carved out for me already. I've heard enough of concerns like that, Lady Natalya. I'm sorry if you feel like you're carrying so much weight on your shoulders."
Alfred bit his lip. Feeling like he had said enough, he remained silent for a few moments, thinking about all that he had said. It had been long since he last became angry and he never anticipated whenever he did. For now, he had to stand guard here in his own initiative, unable to leave her alone.

"I understand." She replied as she followed him to the food and drinks. So he wanted her to treat him like a citizen? She could do that. She could definitely do that. As she arrived, she saw the different types of wine that were on the table. They all looked absolutely delicious, but she had no idea where to start exactly. She felt so foolish for not knowing which one to start on. It would just show how out of place she was in the castle. "My pastries are here actually." She said as she point them out next to the wine. "Everything there was made by me." She explained casually. "What would you recommend? My knowledge on wine is very limited compared to yours. Which one would you believe I would enjoy? She asked him, moving her hair from her face.

His evening was rather lively and interesting, entertained neither by the music nor the dancing, but the display of rather heated and delicate conversation between the guest and the host himself. He was too far to hear what they were talking about, but the looks on their faces were refreshing. It was rare to see such display of emotions and affection in the humorless north. Thus, such a sight brought a small smile on his lips, whenever they're not occupied with the goblet that held the finest of Viresi wine. That too, was something Ivan took pleasure from. The wine was exquisite, something to love from the south. It is something he could never deny, or anyone could, for that matter.
His eyes trailed back to the dance floor. Such a pretty sight it was, such grand vibrancy with every twirl of the ladies' skirts. Ivan was more of an observer, but how could he let the one he was supposed to be keeping an eye on slip by unnoticed. Natalya was no where to be found, as much as his eyes allowed him to see. Alfred Atherton was gone as well...
"Suspicious," Ivan muttered to himself. A few more moments, a few more and he'd send in guards to look for her. Natalya was, of course, very dear.

"I do enjoy the white." He smiled picking two glasses up and handing one to her. He was delighted to find out that all of her pastries were here in front of him to sample once again. "Which would you recommend with the white?" he questioned wanting to know her expertise. He took a sip of his wine with a pleasant smile. It was nice to share the knowledge that both of them had acquired. "Mhmm sweet as always." his smile widened at that feeling the flavor swim upon his tongue before swallowing. Wine made him quite sentimental.

Perfect timing to grab a piece of... something and test out how it tasted. Pretty good! "Whoa, this is good, taste! I thiiiink it's some kind of bird-creature like a chicken maybe? Anyway, taste it!" Trym decided to pick up a piece and attempt to feed it to Lukas, because that'd definitely be so well received by the other man.

"White wine has a variety of desserts that can be eaten with." Emma explained as she looked around the dessert table. "It can be eaten with custard and vanilla, or with some fruit like apples and pears. an apple crisp would be suitable, as well as a custard." She said, taking a plate of apple strudel from the table to hand it to him. "Here. The apple strudel is made with granny smith apples, apple juice, lemon zest, cinnamon along with other ingredients. I'm sure this will help bring out the sweetness of the white wine even more." She assured him as she set a fork onto his plate. "Bon appétit." She told him as she moved her hair from her face once more. It was nerve wracking to see someone try her dessert who wasn't her usual customer that went into her bakery. It was a member of the Vitus royal family. If she screwed this up, her entire business was over, and that frightened her.

Francis couldn't help but chuckle softly as his dance partner was led off by his old friend. He always had his eyes open, that one, but the problem was, he was a little dense when it came to reading people. Emma seemed quite enamored with him though, so maybe he would figure it out? He turned, moving away into the crowd to find someone else to talk to for the moment. He was happy, though, that the baker was being paid attention to.

He smiled graciously as he got handed the delectable pastry. He examined it first listening to what she said before cutting it and taking a bite. The warm taste of apples flooded his mouth with the slight cinnamon it was absolutely delightful he could really eat this forever. He took a sip of the wine following still not saying anything before breaking out into a laugh. "You do make wondrous pastries, my that even may have been the best I have ever had and it does go with the wine just like you said." He was curious now at the young baker, she had a talent didn't she and this might be his chance. "You seem to be wonderful chef, you think maybe one day I could come to your shop and you could teach me how to make this ...the crew would love it who knows maybe I can finally get something shipped out to them during journeys." Antonio was filled with excitement now as probably this was the best thing that happened to him all day a simple apple strudel.

| Matthew Atherton
Moving along the table of the wines going to pick up another cup to keep his cool was where Matthew now was. Leaning down looking at them just trying to decipher which one would be the strongest. Where was his brother anyway...who knows Alfred could already be passed out in the garden bushes for all Matthew knew. He picked up a dark red one almost black wine before tipping it up into his lips. Correct that one was the strong one. A cough came from his mouth before he struggled taking a few steps back before feeling like he bumped into a hard wall or at least he thought it was a hard wall till he felt it move. He turned around quickly to see a very tall man with snow white hair...wasn't he a lord, Matthew's eyes were blurry enough as it was he wasn't too sure but he knew he must apologize. "I am sorry sir, forgive me I didn't mean to bump into you like that." He flashed a smile at the taller male hoping no trouble would be caused.

| Emma Janssens
Emma's face continued to heat up at the compliments she was receiving from the royal member. He really did enjoy her pastries, and that made her heart swell with pride and admiration. The fact that he enjoyed her pastries wasn't enough, but he even wanted to learn how to bake from her. The honor she had felt was tenfold when he asked her such a request. She'd never really was the type to teach anyone. Granted, she had taught the children how to make something simple, but that was entirely different than teaching the admiral of the Fleet how to bake. Still, this could be a business proposition without her even knowing it. She could turn this into a way to make some profit. The admiral's men were still hungry men after all, and they could make a huge order of strudels, and other desserts if that was the case. "I'm so honored and glad that you enjoyed my desserts." She told him once she finished fighting with herself about his words and offer. "If you like, I'd be more than happy to teach you how to make them, along with any other desserts you desire to learn for you and your crew." She curtsied quickly as she straightened up just as quickly.
